Overview

The ATHE Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a 12-credit qualification and is considered to be equivalent in standard to A-level or Access to HE studies. The aims of this qualification are to provide an introduction to teaching and training for those considering working in the teaching profession, delivering training as part of their role or just beginning their careers in these fields.

The qualification will develop knowledge, understanding and the skills needed to be successful in a teaching or training role. It may be undertaken by individuals who are not currently in a teaching/training role. 

Upon completion of this course, students receive The ATHE Level 3 Diploma in Education and Training which is fully regulated by Ofqual.Students will then have the opportunity to access to higher education institutions and also provides suitable progression to other ATHE qualifications at level 4,

Module Structure

  • ATHE Level Award 3 in Education and Training is a 12-credit qualification.
  • The learner must achieve a minimum of 12 credits. Three credits from Group A, six credits from Group B, and three credits from Group C.
Unit 1: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training (3 credits) Group A

In this unit learners will develop knowledge and understanding of the role and responsibilities of teachers and trainers including the interface with other professionals.

Unit 2: Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training (6 credits) Group B

The aim of this unit is to enable the learner to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in how to use inclusive teaching and learning approaches to engage students in the learning process and meet their needs.  

Unit 3: Facilitate Learning and Development for Individuals (6 credits) Group B   

This unit aims to assess the understanding of the learning and development practitioner in how to facilitate learning and development for individuals.

Unit 4:  Facilitate Learning and Development in Groups (6 credits) Group B

In this unit learners will gain knowledge and understanding of group dynamics and develop skill in how to work with students in groups, so effective learning takes place.

Unit 5: Understanding Assessment in Education and Training (3 credits) Group C

The aim of this unit is to develop knowledge and understanding of the purpose of assessment and the different types, which can be used in the education and/or training of individuals

Unit 6: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 credits) Group C

In this unit learners will gain knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of assessment.

Applicants must be over 16 years old and meet one of the following criteria: has recently been in education or training, has 5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above or Grade 4 and above. Additionally, if English is not your first language, you'll need an IELTS score of 5.5 or CEFR level B2 (or equivalent).

This diploma is a Level 3 ATHE Professional qualification, accredited with a qualification number (QN) of 601/8386/X. It comprises 73 Guided Learning Hours (GLH), carries 12 credits, and represents 120 Total Qualification Time (TQT). This qualification is recognized both in the UK and internationally.

To apply, submit a completed application form provided by Award Academy within a month of enrolment. Along with the form, you must provide proof of educational qualifications, and language proficiency. Your application will then be reviewed for eligibility.

If you fail to meet the entry requirements, your application will not be accepted. It's important to ensure that you meet all the necessary criteria before applying.
